The reserve was established to preserve in their natural state natural habitats unique for southern Ukraine with the participation of Dnipro birch communities in the Lower Dnipro arenas. On the territory of the reserve, 30 rare species of plants and animals included in the international and national conservation lists and two rare plant formations (9) included in the Green Book of Ukraine have been identified. IUCN World Red List, European Red List - Agropyron dasyanthum, Red Data Book of Ukraine Alyssum savranicum, Astragalus borysthenicus, Betula borysthenica, Centaurea breviceps, Goniolimon graminifolium, Stipa borysthenica, Red List of Kherson region - Inula helenium, Quercus robur The site corresponds to the national importance. The list of the of vascular plants includes 88 species of 16 families. The nomenclature of the vascular plants in dataset follows “Nomenclatural Checklist of vascular plants of Ukraine” (Mosyakin & Fedoronchuk 1999).
