Descrição
The dataset is prepared by Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group in collaboration with Institute of Botany and Institute of Zoology NAS Ukraine a part of the UNEP project ‘Building national biodiversity information supply and demand in Pan Europe to support implementation & progress review of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework' funded by the European Commission and technically supported the UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC). Coordinator of the Ukrainian part of the project is Dr. V. Kostiushyn. In order to collect information about the records of alien (primarily invasive) species of plants, animals and fungi in Ukraine, the NGO Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group (UNCG), in cooperation with the M. H. Kholodny Institute of Botany of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and I.I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, announced in 2022 the publication of a special collection. In Ukraine, this approach works well, because publishing the publication allows to encourage many authors who have not worked with the GBIF format before. It was the materials of the specially designed collection "Records of alien species of plants and animals in Ukraine" that made up the data array of this dataset. It should be emphasized that the task set before the authors was quite difficult, because at this time there is no official list of invasive or alien species in Ukraine. Moreover, some of these species have been present on the territory of Ukraine for many decades, and in some cases for several hundreds of years. Also, the scale of distribution of such species in Ukraine is very significant and the data set about them can never be complete. Information for this set was provided by 164 specialists from 56 scientific institutions and organizations of Ukraine.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
