Description
The dataset includes information on observations of 16 species of birds from 6 orders, listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, carried out in the territory of the Pyryatyn National Nature Park (NNP) and in its vicinity. The territory of the park consists of contiguous clusters, the distance between which is up to 1 km, located in the sparsely urbanized agrarian area of the Udaj river basin, as well as in the floodplains of the Perevod (the largest right tributary of the Udaj) and Ruda (the right tributary of the Perevod) rivers. The total area of the NNP is 12028.42 hectares, of which 7574.18 hectares are wetlands, 3173.59 hectares are pastures and hayfields, which form a single natural complex with the VBU, 1280.65 hectares are covered with forests. The length along the Udaj river is 64.2 km. There are two reservoirs on the territory of the park: Berezovorudske - 114 hectares and Davidivske - 24 hectares. The floodplain of the Udaj river is a section of the regional Sulyn ecological corridor, which connects the Halytskyi-Slobozhanskyi, Dniproskyi and Prypoliskyi ecological corridors of national significance (Подобайло, 2008).
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 249 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Geographic Coverage
The dataset covers records made in the territory of Poltava region, Lubenskyi district, Pyryatynskyi city amalgamated territorial Ccommunity, the territory of the Pyrіatyn National Nature Park and the areas closest to it, including the outskirts of the village of Antonivka, Prylutsky district, Chernihiv region. The Udaj river within the NNP flows from the northwest to the southeast and is a right tributary of the Sula river, which is a left tributary of the 1st order of the Dnipro river. According to the physical and geographical zoning of Ukraine, the floodplain of the Udaj river is located within the limits of the North Poltava elevated landscape region of the Left Bank-Dnieper forest-steppe edge of the forest-steppe zone (Маринич, Шищенко, 2005). The park is directly adjacent to the city of Pyrіatyn (16,146 inhabitants).

Sampling Methods
The material was collected during group expeditions and separate individual field trips to the national park. To collect data, participants of the expeditions mainly used walking routes. Observations made from a motorless boat were made less often . Bird counts were carried out using the route method (Равкин, Челинцев, 1990; Шульпин, 1939) using the method of counting on an unlimited strip (Равкин, 1967; Равкин, Доброхотов, 1963). The method of accounting from one point was also used (Вергелес, 1994), including during observations of seasonal migrations and at the Berezovorud reservoir, or, depending on the conditions, combined route and point methods (Боголюбов, 1996; Bibby, Jones, Marsden, 1998; Blondel, Ferry, Frochot, 1977; Recher, 1981). Observations were carried out using 7-12× binoculars and a 45× telescope. Mainly, the identifiers "Birds of the fauna of Ukraine" (Фесенко, Бокотей 2002) and "Collins Bird Guide" (Svensson, Mullarney, Zetterstrӧm, 2009) were used. Photographs were taken whenever possible. In the field, the coordinates were determined using a GPS navigator. In its absence, the exact meeting places were determined using the Google Maps web service and the Google Earth and Google Earth Pro programs on a personal computer (the same applies to data processing of other observers).
Study Extent | The dataset was created using the Microsoft Excel computer program. The database was created thanks to information from the authors' own observations, employees of the state protection department and the scientific department of the Pyriatyn Natonal Nature Park, WWF volunteers in Ukraine and the EY company (Kyiv), student volunteers of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and individual scientists and citizens. |
