Description
The database includes finds of 30 species of fish living in the lower course of the Desna River.
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 262 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Sampling Methods
We used reconnaissance and detailed route methods to survey the section of the Desna riverbed from the northern tip of the river island of Lyubechiv near the village of Bodenky to the mouth of the Desna. Floodplain lakes were also surveyed, on the left bank opposite the village of Pirnove, and on the right bank, lake Starukha between Nyzhcha Dubechna and Novosilky. These lakes have lost their connection with the Desna riverbed. The strait, which is part of Camel Bay in northern Kyiv, was also inspected as the site of Syngnathus abaster possible suitable habitat. A boat was used to move on the water. The work at one location was carried out during one day and included catching fish with a fishing rod and small species of bait. Immediately after identification, the fish were returned to the reservoirs. The list of species also included fish caught by other fishermen near the site.
