Descrição

The dataset contains records of 204 bird species from 53 families and 19 orders collected within the Donetsk and Kharkiv administrative regions of Ukraine. Studies of the avifauna were conducted mainly in the northern part of Donetsk oblast (outskirts of Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Sviatohirsk, Lyman, Druzhkivka, Kostiantynivka, Chasiv Yar, etc.) and the northeastern part of Kharkiv oblast (the city of Izium). The majority of the material was collected in the territories of the nature reserve fund of Ukraine - regional landscape parks “Kramatorsk”, “Slavic Resort”, “Kleban-Byk”, national nature parks “Holy Mountains”, “Meotyda”, the branch of the Ukrainian Steppe Nature Reserve “Chalk Flora”, local nature reserves, etc.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Métodos de Amostragem

Observations were made with various binoculars 7X, 8X, 12X, 15X, 18X, 20X. Whenever possible, photographs were taken with film and digital cameras. All observations were carefully recorded in field diaries. The records were referenced to the nearby settlement and indicated the habitat in which the observation was made. In the vast majority of bird species records, their number was noted. Geographical coordinates were calculated in the free GIS program QGIS in decimal degrees according to the WGS84 coordinate system. Various online maps (OSM, GoogleMap) and satellite images were used to link the bird observation data to the mapping base. The Latin names of bird species are given according to the list approved by BirdLife International and used in the electronic version of the Handbook of the Birds of the World (HBW and BirdLife International 2018).

Área de Estudo The bulk of the material was collected during walking route surveys of birds. The database also includes occasional random bird registrations and materials from surveys while traveling by road or rail.
Controle de Qualidade The author - an ornithologist with long-term experience of field studies - is solely responsible for the quality of the data presented in the published dataset.

Descrição dos passos do método:

  1. Conducting field surveys.
  2. Visual, audio, and other bird records.
  3. Species (genus, family) identification.
  4. Georeferencing.
  5. Organization of the data set in accordance with Darwin Core standards.
