Description
This dataset contains occurrence records of vascular plant species and associated hemeroby levels in reclaimed mining areas near the city of Pokrov, Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukraine. The study was carried out on artificial technosols formed after surface manganese mining. The aim was to evaluate the relationship between plant community composition, hemeroby as a phytoindicator of anthropogenic transformation, and physical soil properties. Occurrence data were collected across multiple 3×3 m plots placed in various technosol types (pedosols and lithosols). For each plot, species identity, projective cover, and calculated community hemeroby level were documented. The dataset supports research on ecological restoration, vegetation succession, and biodiversity monitoring in post-mining landscapes.

Couverture géographique
The dataset covers a reclaimed post-mining area located near the city of Pokrov, in the Dnipropetrovsk region of southeastern Ukraine. The study site is situated on artificial technosols created after surface manganese extraction and includes various substrate types such as red-brown clays, grey-green clays, and loess-like loams. The geographic coverage encompasses a relatively small area (approximately 2 hectares) where vegetation sampling and soil property measurements were systematically carried out. This site belongs to the Central Pontic Grassland Zone and represents a valuable model system for studying ecological restoration in disturbed steppe ecosystems.

Couverture taxonomique
The dataset includes occurrence records of vascular plant species identified at the species level. The taxa represent steppe and ruderal flora commonly found on anthropogenic technosols in southeastern Ukraine. Species from families such as Asteraceae, Poaceae, Fabaceae, Brassicaceae, and Lamiaceae are well represented. The taxonomic identification followed the Euro+Med Plantbase.

Méthodes d'échantillonnage
Vegetation sampling was carried out using standard 3×3 m plots arranged along transects within polygons representing distinct technosol types. In each plot, all vascular plant species were recorded and their projective cover (%) was visually estimated. Species identification was performed using regional floras and verified using Euro+Med Plantbase taxonomy. The hemeroby index of each plant species was assigned based on the Frank & Klotz scale and converted to a unified 100-point scale. Community-level hemeroby values were calculated as a cover-weighted average. The sampling design ensured consistency across different soil types to enable multivariate statistical comparisons.
Etendue de l'étude | The study was conducted on a reclaimed post-mining site located on artificial technosols near the city of Pokrov, Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukraine. The area included various technosol types formed on loess-like loams, red-brown clays, and grey-green clays. A total of 1260 vegetation plots of 3×3 m were surveyed across four polygons representing different technosol types. Sample plots were arranged in transects (15 plots per transect, 7 transects per polygon). The total surveyed area covers approximately 0.9 hectares. The site is part of the Central Pontic Grassland Zone and represents a mosaic of anthropogenically altered habitats at different stages of reclamation. |

Description des étapes de la méthode:
- The data collection process involved field surveys of vascular plants in 3×3 m plots established along transects in reclaimed mining areas. All vascular plant species were identified and their projective cover (%) visually estimated. Each species was assigned a hemeroby score based on Frank & Klotz (1990), converted to a 100-point scale. Community hemeroby was calculated as a weighted average using species cover. The data were digitized, taxonomically standardized using the Euro+Med Plantbase, and quality-checked for consistency. Final datasets were formatted to Darwin Core standards before publication.
