Descripción
This dataset contains macrophyte species occurrence records collected in 2024 from floodplain water bodies within the Dnipro-Orilskyi Nature Reserve, located in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, central Ukraine. The data were obtained through standardized field surveys across 16 aquatic habitats representing a range of hydrological conditions and successional stages. For each sampling site, the presence and relative abundance of vascular aquatic and semi-aquatic plant species were recorded using a semi-quantitative scale (1–5). Geographic coordinates were recorded using handheld GPS devices. This dataset contributes to long-term biodiversity monitoring of freshwater vegetation in protected floodplain ecosystems and provides a basis for assessing ecological changes driven by river regulation and climatic impacts.

Cobertura geográfica
The geographic coverage includes aquatic and semi-aquatic habitats within the Dnipro-Orilskyi Nature Reserve, located in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, central Ukraine. The study area represents a floodplain landscape shaped by the Dnipro and Oril rivers, encompassing oxbow lakes, shallow ponds, and temporarily inundated meadows. The surveyed sites fall within the approximate range of 48.88–48.95° N latitude and 35.11–35.20° E longitude.

Cobertura taxonómica
The dataset includes vascular aquatic and semi-aquatic macrophyte species from the classes Magnoliopsida and Liliopsida, representing diverse taxonomic groups typical of temperate freshwater ecosystems. Most of the recorded taxa belong to families such as Potamogetonaceae, Hydrocharitaceae, Nymphaeaceae, Alismataceae, and Cyperaceae. Species were identified based on morphological traits in the field and verified using regional floristic guides. The taxonomic coverage reflects the species composition of floodplain water bodies in a protected area of the Dnipro River basin.

Métodos de muestreo
At each site, macrophyte sampling was conducted by visually inspecting the waterbody from the shoreline and shallow wading, covering all accessible microhabitats. All vascular aquatic and semi-aquatic plant species, including mosses and ferns, were identified in situ based on morphological features using regional floras. Relative abundance was estimated using a semi-quantitative scale (1–5), and GPS coordinates were recorded for each surveyed location. Sampling was standardized across sites by covering comparable areas and habitat types within each waterbody. No destructive collection methods were applied.
Área de Estudio | The study was conducted in July and August 2024 within the territory of the Dnipro-Orilskyi Nature Reserve, covering 16 floodplain water bodies of various sizes and hydrological regimes. These included oxbow lakes, shallow ponds, and periodically inundated depressions distributed across the central and eastern sections of the reserve. The selected sites represented a gradient of ecological conditions shaped by groundwater inputs, surface water dynamics, and successional stages. All sampling locations were georeferenced using GPS. |

Descripción de la metodología paso a paso:
- 1. Selection of 16 representative water bodies within the Dnipro-Orilskyi Nature Reserve based on hydrological typology and accessibility. 2. Field survey of macrophyte species (including mosses and ferns) conducted in July–August 2024 using visual identification and estimation of relative abundance. 3. Recording of species presence and abundance using a semi-quantitative scale from 1 (rare) to 5 (dominant). 4. Georeferencing of sampling sites using handheld GPS devices. 5. Standardization of observations across sites to ensure consistency in sampling effort. 6. Data entry, validation, and harmonization in accordance with Darwin Core standards. 7. Generation of metadata (EML) and publication through the GBIF IPT platform.
