Descripción
This dataset presents occurrence records of coprophilous ascomycetes collected from various regions of Ukraine. It includes species of two key genera, Saccobolus Boud. and Coniochaeta (Sacc.) Cooke, as well as other coprophilous ascomycetes recorded within Hetmanskyi National Nature Park and adjacent areas. The dataset comprises records of 55 species of fungi. These records are based on field collections and laboratory analysis conducted during several mycological surveys. Selected materials have been previously published in the articles listed in the Bibliography section below. This contribution aims to promote ongoing diversity studies of coprophilous fungi in the country and facilitate the integration of Ukraine’s fungal occurrence data into global biodiversity repositories via GBIF.

Métodos de muestreo
The moist-chamber method of incubation was used to detect and obtain the fruit bodies of coprophilous ascomycetes (Keyworth 1951, Richardson 2001) from the collected samples of dung. Samples of excrement were placed in Petri dishes lined with moistened filter paper (with more water added as needed to maintain sufficient humidity of the substrate). The day after placement in moist chambers, the samples were carefully examined using a stereomicroscope. This allowed us to detect the fruit bodies that have already formed in nature. Subsequent examinations were performed at regular intervals of a few days. Samples were incubated at room temperature (18–20 ºC) under natural light for a period of 30–50 days, depending on the rate of ascoma development. Macro-and microstructures were observed in fresh material. Identification of species was done using stereomicroscope MBS-10 (JSC «LZOS») and a light microscope XSM-40 (Ningbo Sunni Instruments Co.). The microstructures such as asci, ascospores, and paraphyses were studied in water. A minimum of 20 spores and asci were measured. The quotient between spore length and width (Q), as well as the average quotient (Qav), were calculated. The dimensions of fungal structures were measured using the Tsview7 modular software (Fuzhou Tucsen Imaging Technology Co.). The amyloid reaction of the apical apparatus and ascus wall was determined using Melzer's reagent. Aqueous Сotton Blue was used for staining the hyaline gelatinous sheath and/or appendages. Species were identified using various monographs, dichotomous and synoptic keys (van Brummelen 1967, Kimbrough et al. 1969, 1972, Ahmed & Cain 1972, Lundquist 1972, Doveri 2004, 2014, Bell 2005).
Área de Estudio | Specimens included in this dataset were collected from several floristic and biogeographic regions of Ukraine, according to the classification provided in Flora of Fungi of Ukraine (Heluta, 1989). These regions include the following: Carpathian Forests, Left Bank Grass Steppe, Left Bank Forest-Steppe, Left Bank Polissya, South Coast of Crimea, Kharkiv Forest-Steppe. In addition, a significant number of records originates from Hetmanskyi National Nature Park and adjacent areas in the northeastern part of Ukraine (Sumy Region, Okhtyrka District). The dataset consists of species of coprophilous ascomycetes (Ascomycota, Fungi) – an ecological group of fungi typically colonizing the dung of herbivorous and omnivorous animals. Therefore, the dataset includes information on the associated substrates, the feces of animal species (indicated as habitat sources). The following animal species are represented: roe deer (Capreolus capreolus Linnaeus), red deer (Cervus elaphus Linnaeus), elk (Alces alces Linnaeus), european mouflon (Ovis aries musimon Pallas), wild boar (Sus scrofa Linnaeus), hare (Lepus europaeus Pallas), rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus Linnaeus), horse (Equus ferus caballus Linnaeus), donkey (Equus africanus asinus Linnaeus), cattle (Bos taurus Linnaeus), goat (Capra hircus Linnaeus), and sheep (Ovis aries Linnaeus). This taxonomic and ecological diversity enhances the dataset’s relevance for studies in fungal ecology, biodiversity, and host-specificity of dung-inhabiting fungi.
