Description

The dataset includes registrations of rare and typical plant species of the steppe biotopes of the Mykolaiv region (the vicinity of the "Yelanets Steppe" nature reserve, the valley of the Chichikliya River, the valley of the Berezan River, zakaznyk "Balka Zarubina").

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 725 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Sampling Methods

The formation of the dataset was carried out as a result of field surveys of the territories designed for inclusion in the nature reserve fund of the Mykolaiv region. The dataset includes species of plants and some species of animals listed database of geobotanical descriptions of the vegetation of steppe biotopes of the Mykolaiv region, as well as data geolocated using iNaturalist web resource. At the same time, this dataset is currently the most complete summary of information on the distribution of many rare and endemic plants included in the Red Data Book of Ukraine, the Bern Convention and other nature protection lists within the territories proposed for the expansion of the Yelanets Steppe Nature Reserve, as well as information about the vegetation of the Chichiklia and Berezan river valleys, which were the "white spots" of biodiversity until now.

Study Extent The dataset shows the information of registrations of rare and common species of flora and fauna made in 2023 on the territories that are promissing for inclusion into the nature reserve fund of Mykolaiv region in order to expand it.
Quality Control The author is fully responsible for the quality of data and accuracy of georeferenced points showed in the dataset.

Method step description:

  1. Conducting of field surveys.
  2. Checking of the updated registrations in the iNaturalist web resource.
  3. Species/genera/subspecies identification.
  4. Georeferencing.
  5. Organizing of the dataset according to the Darwin Core standards.
