Description
The database includes 58 records of bird encounters within the National Natural Park Tuzlivsky Lagoons and its surroundings - the eastern part of the lake Sasyk (in the vicinity of the village Trapivka, Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky district). The records were carried out as part of the traditional monitoring of nesting birds. Attention was primarily paid to waterfowl and near-water bird species. Species that could potentially nest on the site, but their nesting is unproven, were also recorded. Birds that did not nest, but that formed clusters, were also registered. Due to the fact that the connection of the estuaries with the sea was unstable, the water level in the Tuzliv estuaries was low, large areas dried up and became inaccessible for nesting. A similar trend has been observed in the region for several years.
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 58 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Project Data
The results of the project will be a backbone for establishment of new protected areas and Emerald Network sites, as well as for development of management plans for already existing protected areas. As a result, we will prepare documents for all the important sites identified and provide them directly to the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Ukraine. Our gathered data on the occurrences of protected species will facilitate the establishment of new protected areas.

Sampling Methods
Inspection of open areas and water areas is carried out with the help of 10x binoculars and a 30-60x telescope. The coordinates of each encounter were recorded only in individual cases, instead, each bird encountered was assigned to a certain accounting area of arbitrary shape, but recorded in GIS.
Study Extent | Both road and foot routes were conducted on the specified territories. On the territory of the wetlands, the coast along the reservoir is surveyed with stops opposite the open areas of the water area, which are well visible. The coastal strip along the reservoirs is also surveyed. Nesting birds are considered to be birds with nests, with chicks or those that have shown nesting behavior. |
