Description
In 2024, we conducted a study of the biodiversity of the flora of Obukhovychi village in Vyshkohorde district, Kyiv region. The aim of the research was to find valuable areas for the creation of new protected areas. As a result of the research, we propose to create 10 new sites of the nature reserve fund (Moisienko et al., 2024): three landscape reserves of local importance and 7 natural monuments of local importance. We also carried out flora inventory. In total, we compiled 20 floristic lists using the Vegapp app, which formed the basis of this dataset during 4 field trips in 2024. This dataset 828 contains occurrences of 322 species (vascular plants) recorded in 20 releve or vegetation survey during the project. The nomenclature of the dataset is as follows: “Ukrainian Plant Trait Database: UkrTrait v. 1.0” - (Vynokurov et al. 2024).
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 828 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Sampling Methods
The research was conducted throughout 2024. During the research, we compiled a list of vascular plant species for a particular habitat. The species list was created using the Vegapp app. For each species, we noted its abundance using a five-point scale: I - rare, II - occasional, III - frequent, IV - common, V - abundant. To obtain this dataset, we collected 20 florist lists. The research sites were pre-selected based on satellite images from Google Earth. The next stage of selection was direct field surveys of the territory. The surveys were usually carried out within a particular habitat or group of similar habitats in an area that we considered perspective for a new protected area. Particular attention was paid to the presence of protected species. These data were used to prepare scientific justifications for the creation of new protected areas.
Study Extent | The dataset contains the co-distribution of vascular plants. The study area is located in the Kyiv Region, Vyshgorod District, northern part of Central Ukraine, Polissia lowland. The territory includes parts of Vyshgorod District. This area is located in the southern part of the Forests zone (Polissia). |

Quality Control | Some specimens of the vascular plants were collected as herbarium for determination and verification after the fieldwork. After digitizing the data, we harmonised the taxonomic information according to the nomenclature sources "Ukrainian Plant Trait Database: UkrTrait v. 1.0" - (Vynokurov et al. 2024): for vascular plants, we used GBIF Backbone Taxonomy (GBIF species matching tool: https://www.gbif.org/tools/species-lookup) for the taxonomic check and implemented minor corrections of species names regarding misprints and problematic taxa to avoid misinterpretation. We additionally checked and verified the data using OpenRefine (https://openrefine.org/) and QGIS 3.38 (https://qgis.org) for quality control. |
Method step description:

- Identification of herbarium specimens of vascular plants
- Digitization of field data forms
- Data validation and cleaning
