説明

The dataset contains the results of the records of 1564 nests of the 5 species of Grebes Podicipediformes: Great Crested Grebe Podiceps cristatus, Red-necked Grebe Podiceps grisegena, Black-necked Grebe Podiceps nigricollis, Slavonian Grebe Podiceps auratus, Little Grebe Tachybaptus ruficollis in the territory of mainly the western part of Ukraine, partly in other regions, namely: Lviv, Ternopil, Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Khmel'nyts'kyi, Zakarpattia, Sumy, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi administrative regions. 86% of the records are located in Lviv, Volyn and Ternopil regions (1356 records).

With the help of the project two more publishers from Ukraine were registered. This means that despite rocket attacks, close to the front line, lack of light... Lviv, Kharkiv, Odesa and Melitopol continue to work on publication of scientific archives of the West-Ukrainian Ornithological Society and Azov-Black Sea Ornithological Working Group. Both organizations registered with GBIF and our operators have already handed over the first sets data for publication. And this means that more than 10,000 verified records of bird registrations will appear with open access.

収集方法

The collection of materials for the bank of bird nests of Ukraine took place according to the methods and on the basis of the questionnaires developed by the Western Ukrainian Ornithological Society. The search for nests was carried out both during special research and for accidental finds. A separate questionnaire was filled out for each registered nest, which indicated the species, date and place of discovery, describes the biotope and exact location of the nest, its dimensions and nesting material, the dimensions and weight of eggs or chicks (if such measurements were taken). Such a questionnaire is a reliable documented fact of the nesting of a species in a certain area. The nomenclature follows the Catalog of Life.

Study Extent	The dataset represents the results of 5 species of Grebes Podicipediformes: Great Crested Grebe Podiceps cristatus, Red-necked Grebe Podiceps grisegena, Black-necked Grebe Podiceps nigricollis, Slavonian Grebe Podiceps auratus, Little Grebe Tachybaptus ruficollis nests' registrations within the territory of mainly western Ukraine for the period starting from 1962 to 2015. This dataset contains data on 657 Great Crested Grebe Podiceps cristatus, 90 Red-necked Grebe Podiceps grisegena, 773 Black-necked Grebe Podiceps nigricollis, 1 Slavonian Grebe Podiceps auratus, 44 Little Grebe Tachybaptus ruficollis nests.
Quality Control	The authors of the dataset are fully responsible for the quality of the published data (species identification, georeferencing, other provided data).
