Description

The dataset comprises biodata on specimens invertebrate and vertebrata animals, held in the private collections of E. Singaevsky, S. Bezuhlyi, Y. Protsenko, Z. Burian and V. Trokhymets. The samples were collected during a number of expeditions and excursions in various habitat types, both natural and anthropogenic, across the territory of Pyriatyn National Nature Park and and its surroundings, spanning the period from 2002 to 2023. Identification of insect samples was carried out: E. Singaevsky (Arachnida), I. Kostiuk (Lepidoptera), I. Pljushtch (Lepidoptera), O. Puchkov (Coleoptera), S. Bezugly (Lepidoptera), V. Kazannik (Aves), V. Nazarenko (Coleoptera), V. Sergiechko (Lepidoptera), Z. Burian (Branchiopoda, Eurotatoria), V.Trokhymets (Branchiopoda, Eurotatoria).

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 5,495 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Sampling Methods

The dataset comprises data on specimens collected from 2002 to 2023. The material on each animal was collected during numerous expeditions on the territory of Pyriatyn National Nature Park. Different methods were used to capture the invertebrate, including conical net, sweeping with an air net, collecting separate individuals from flowers, wood, leaves and other surfaces, using pan traps, trap-nests, Barber traps, light trap. The captured specimens were narcotized in the field with ethylene glycol or preserved directly in 96% ethanol or 4% formalin. Various identification keys were employed to identify species. If it was possible, the animals were identified during field expeditions, without removing animals from their natural habitat or preserving them (Aves and Lepidoptera). The specimens were typically studied using an MBS-9 microscope. The material is housed fund collection of Pyriatyn National Nature Park, as well as in the private collections of E. Singaevsky, S. Bezuhlyi, Y. Protsenko, Z. Burian and V.Trokhymets.

Study Extent The material on animals was collected during numerous expeditions on the territory of Pyriatyn National Nature Park and its surroundings within the period from 2002 to 2023.
