Description
This dataset presents the results of observations of 162 bird species. Data collection was carried out by car and on pedestrian routes during expedition trips in spring-summer periods (namely April-July) of 2008-2021. The hydrographic network of the basins of the Southern Bug, Ingulets and Berezan and Tyligul estuaries, including numerous ponds, was surveyed. These areas are subject to significant anthropogenic influence, but remain important centers of biodiversity surrounded by agricultural landscapes.
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 2,118 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Sampling Methods
The research covers a large area, but it is fragmentary. Mostly, different territories were surveyed in different years. The coordinates of each registration were recorded only in individual cases. In the vast majority, the registration of each bird encountered was linked to a settlement and other landmarks (reservoir, stream, forest). According to these records, when collecting data, the coordinates of bird meeting places were determined using a map from the Internet (https://www.google.com/; the "Google Earth" program). The accuracy of the meeting place reaches approximately 1 km. The dataset also includes some incidental bird sightings that may be valuable for an inventory of the avifauna of the region during the study period. The information in the database is not exhaustive. Observations were made using 10-12-X binoculars. The nomenclature corresponds to The Catalogue of Life.
Study Extent | Most of the material was collected during conducting of route counts of birds while traveling by car at low speed and stops of various durations. The stops made it possible to accurately determine the species of birds, their number, age and sex, as well as to conduct maximum observation of the area, especially in conditions of poor visibility. All species of birds were recorded at any distance, allowing to determine the species. |
