Description

As part of the environmental monitoring conducted by the company, a study was carried out to assess the impact of the activities of the gas production department “Lvivhazvydobuvannia” on the flora and fauna of selected sites in the Ivano-Frankivsk region during the winter period.

The resulting dataset includes records of identified species of flora, fauna, and fungi within the surveyed areas. These data were used to analyze biodiversity patterns and to develop recommendations aimed at mitigating anthropogenic pressure on the region’s natural ecosystems.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 74 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Sampling Methods

On-site investigations were conducted during winter season following standardized biodiversity assessment protocols. Where possible, biota species (animals, fungi, lichens, plants) were recorded through visual observations without removal from their natural habitats, and photographic evidence was used whenever feasible. Birds were identified either visually or by their acoustic signals. All observations were documented in a field journal. Some animals were recorded based on indirect evidence of their presence, such as droppings, feathers, footprints, shells, remains of exoskeletons, etc. Some specimens were collected for further study under laboratory conditions.

Study Extent Ivano-Frankivsk region, Nadvirna commune, Ukraine. Winter 2024-2025.
Quality Control Species mapping was conducted using the WGS 84 projection system in QGIS softvare v. 3.10 (EPSG: 4326) with UTF-8 encoding. To record the coordinates, we used the smartphone's GPS, some points were set manually on OpenTopoMap. The inventory of habitats under the Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats (Bern Convention) was carried out in accordance with: Kraus, D., Bütler, R., Krumm, F., Lachat, T., Larrieu, L., Mergner, U., Paillet, Y., Rydkvist, T., Schuck, A., and Winter, S. (2016). Catalogue of tree microhabitats – Reference field list. Integrate+ Technical Paper. 16p.
