Description

The dataset includes records of vascular plant species made of the Right Bank forest-steppe zone of Ukraine (namely from Cherkasy region) made from March 2023 on a limited number of sampling locations. The dataset is created in order to track the seasonal changes in registrations of vascular plants throughout a year.

Data Records

The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 9 records.

1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Sampling Methods

Using the detailed route method, the author surveyed the areas of the basin of the Hirskyi Tikich, Gnyliy Tikich rivers, tributaries of the Ros River, as well as the bank of the Dnipro River, not far from the city of Cherkasy. When identifying the locality of a plant species, photographs were taken and the point was geolocated using a GPS navigator. Species identification was made using the published guidelines and identifiers.

Study Extent The research was conducted in 2023. The following experts-botanists - Bubela O.Yu., Ilminska L.O. and K.V. Lavrynenko took part in the expeditions, some of which were carried out with the support of the NGO "Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group".
Quality Control The author is fully responsible for the quality of data provided within the dataset.

Method step description:

  1. Conducting of field expeditions to the chosen localities.
  2. Visual identification of species.
  3. Photo-documenting of those species that need additional recording for more accurate identification in the lab and their subsequent identification.
  4. Georeferencing.
  5. Organising of the dataset according to Darwin Core standards.
