Description

The database includes finds of rare and common insect species within the Kharkiv administrative region. The database included rare species ("Red Book of Ukraine", "Red List of Kharkiv region"), common species for which Kharkiv region is an area on the border of the species distribution range, as well as species with uncertain status (number and distribution). Mass common insect species were not included in the database.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 1,084 records.

Geographic Coverage

The surveys covered mainly the territory of the former Kharkiv, Derhachiv, Zmiiv, Izium, Balaklija, Barvinkivskyj, Pervomaiskyj and Blyznyukivskyj districts of the Kharkiv region.

Sampling Methods

Findings of insects were made both by chance on ornithological routes, and at special inspections (route supervision, "cutting" by a net of a grass cover, application of aromatic attractants, inspection of contents of hollows of trees and dead wood, application of light traps - catching on light, etc.).

Study Extent The database includes finds of rare and common insect species within the Kharkiv administrative region. The database included rare species ("Red Book of Ukraine", "Red List of Kharkiv region"), common species for which Kharkiv region is an area on the border of the species distribution range, as well as species with uncertain status (number and distribution).
