Description
The dataset includes 677 records of plant species, 2 records of birds, 45 releves of biotopes and locations of individual species from the Stanychno-Luhansk department of the Luhansk Nature Reserve and its surrounding areas, situated in the Luhansk Region, Ukraine. The Stanychno-Luhansk department is one of the branches of the Luhansk Nature Reserve. The main environmental task of the branch is to protect the biotopes, flora, and fauna complexes of the Siverskiy Donets floodplain and a pine terrace.
Data Records
The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 45 records.
2 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Sampling Methods
We noted a rare bird species found within the forest biotope of the reserve – the white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) and its nest. Most of the releves are represented forest plant communities. Some records include points of the individual species of wetland, meadow, steppe and shrub plant communities, carrying out the releves. The distribution of the species points was recorded using Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx navigator. For each plot, several environmental and structural parameters were recorded: cover of vegetation layers.
Study Extent | We studied the vegetation and flora of the Stanychno-Luhansk department of the Luhansk Nature Reserve and its surrounding areas. |

Quality Control | Data was recorded according to the methodology used for the temporal scope, or the date of publication was used if it was not specified in the methodology of the source. We used GBIF Backbone Taxonomy (GBIF species matching tool: https://www.gbif.org/tools/species-lookup) for the taxonomic check and implemented minor corrections of species names regarding misprints and problematic taxa to avoid misinterpretation. . We additionally checked and verified the header data of vegetation plots (Event Core and GBIF Relevé Extension, Occurrence Extension) using OpenRefine (https://openrefine.org/), R (R Core Team 2022) and QGIS 3.22 (https://qgis.org) for quality control. |
