Description

There is distribution data (1305 localities) about 350 species of vascular plants, mosses, fungi, insect, fish and birds in the lower part of the Desna River basin, namely along the river from Chernihiv to Kyiv and along the Oster River from Nizhyn to Oster. The most information is concerning of alien species like Ambrosia artemisiifolia L., Erigeron canadensis L., Amorpha fruticosa L. etc., as well as common species like Quercus robur L., Populus alba L., Salix acutifolia Willd. etc. However there is some data about distribution rare species too which are listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine (2009).

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 1,305 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Sampling Methods

Geographic coordinates of each location were mostly recognized by GPS and relevant notes were made in field notebook. Sometimes pictures were made too. Some interesting plants were collected for the herbarium.

Study Extent This data was collected during many field trips with different purposes in the lower part of the Desna River basin, namely along the river from Chernihiv to Kyiv and along the Oster River from Nizhyn to Oster from 2007 to 2021. However the most information was obtained at the end of summer - in the beginning of autumn of 2021 thanks to financial support of my floristic excursions by the Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group. Author is thankful to Dr. Andriy Babytskyi, Dr. Oleksandr Baranskyi, Dr. Igor Olshanskyi, Dr. Oksana Futorna, Dr. Svitlana Zhygalova and Kostyantyn Gubskyi.
Quality Control The author is fully responsible for the quality of data provided within the dataset.

Method step description:

  1. Undertaking of field expeditions.
  2. Species identifying.
  3. Photographing.
  4. Collecting of material for the herbarium.
  5. Georeferencing.
