Description

The nomenclature of the vascular plants in dataset follows “Nomenclatural Checklist of vascular plants of Ukraine” (Mosyakin & Fedoronchuk 1999). The checklist dataset the include species composition of the flora with organism quantity of the ecological settlement «Raduha», located on the Oleshkivski sandy area and covers an area of 30 hectares are given. The main direction of the settlement is the spread of the philosophy of complete nutrition and healthy living, as well as training festivals and health practices. The area has almost no anthropogenic impact, so most species grow spontaneously. The studied flora of the eco-village «Raduha» has 262 species of vascular plants Most species of herbaceous plants, trees – 20 species. Of these, one species of vines and 5 species of shrubs. 46 species of honey plants and 63 species of medicinal plants grow on the territory of the ecological settlemen «Raduha».

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 263 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Nadiia Skobel
Ivan Moysiyenko

Sampling Methods

Recording and identification of vascular plants with using road-field methods.

Study Extent This area is situated in the central-southern part of the Black Sea Lowlands in the southern part of the steppe zone of Ukraine, within two geobotanical belts using the national classification system (Barbarych 1977) and fescue-feathergrasssteppes (or bunchgrass steppes).
Quality Control The identification of vascular plant species was held with morphological methods at the field and in the Kherson State University Laboratory of Plant Ecology and Environmental Protection. Coordinates of records were checked using Google Earth service. Data cleaning using OpenRefine.

Method step description:

  1. Field sampling
  2. Recording and identification of vascular plants
  3. Completing of cheklist of vascular plant
  4. Data post-processing according to the Darwin Core standards
  5. Data checking and cleaning in OpenRefine
