Description

The database includes finds of 81 species of Cyclostomata and fish at 772 locations in four countries: Ukraine, Latvia, Poland and Russia. The vast majority of materials are collected in Ukraine by students and teachers during field practices in Zoology of Vertebrates, as well as in the implementation of research projects (diploma, course and master's theses). Some of the materials were purposefully collected and transferred by former students at the request of teachers in order to form and expand the species diversity of fish presented in the collection.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 772 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Sampling Methods

The vast majority of materials were collected by students using fishing rods and ichthyological nets, some - obtained from fishermen. The geolocation of the point were identified by the description of administrative-territorial units.

Study Extent Materials were collected in almost all seasons during the year between 1990 and 2015, but the bulk of materials were collected in summer. Despite the fact that most of the materials were collected by students, the collection is based on a collection of five main authors: Roman A.M., Sheshurak P.M., Voblenko O.S., Zhylka O.I. and Mykula O.S.
Quality Control The author is fully responsible for the accuracy of data presented within the published dataset.

Method step description:

  1. 1. Collecting of the material (manually, with the help of fishing rods and nets, from local inhabitants (fishermen).
  2. 2. Species identification.
  3. 3. Georeferencing.
