This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Título Biodata mobilization of entomological collections of the I. I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology of NAS of Ukraine
Identificador Cepa-LT-2017/10049
Financiamento BioDATA partners, NLBIF, GBIF Norway, and the UiO Natural History Museum
Descrição da Área de Estudo The study area focuses on the biodata mobilization of preserved specimens from fund collections of I.I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology NAS of Ukraine. The taxonomic range covers 3 orders and 22 insect families: Lepidoptera (Tortricidae), Diptera (Sciaridae, Syrphidae), and Hymenoptera (Crabronidae, Sphecidae, Scoliidae, Pompilidae, Vespidae, Chrysididae, Formicidae, Ichneumonidae, Braconidae, Cynipidae, Eurytomidae, Torymidae, Ormyridae, Pteromalidae, Aphelinidae, Eulophidae, Trichogrammatidae, Encyrtidae, Scelionidae).

Métodos de Amostragem

There is no information on methods of material collection and identification of species. Biotopes for most species are not specified. For some specimens, the following biotopes were indicated: steppe, forest-steppe, mountains, sands, gardens, forest, forest edges, river and lake valleys, sea coasts, xerophilic meadows, ravines, anthropogenic landscapes. The material was collected in a number of expeditions and excursions carried out during the field seasons of the years 1905 - 2007. During preparation in the laboratory, the Collected insects were pinned, fixed, dried and labeled. For identification, specimens were studied with MBS-9 microscopes. All of the material is kept in the funds of I.I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology NAS of Ukraine, Kyiv (SIZK) as a part Crabronidae, Sphecidae collection.

Área de Estudo The dataset contains the biodata of Crabronidae and Sphecidae collection is kept in the funds of I.I. Schmalhausen Institute of Zoology NAS of Ukraine (SIZK_ Hymenoptera). The family Crabronidae (864 specimens) is represented by 99 species and two subspecies from 18 genera. The Sphecidae family (206 specimens) is represented by 23 species from 6 genera. All specimens are pinned, fixed and dried. Each specimen is accompanied by labels. Crabronidae and Sphecidae SIZK collection covers almost the whole territory of Ukraine and on the territory of the CIS countries (republics of the former USSR). Сollection covers habitat types both natural and anthropogenic.
Controle de Qualidade We were using the OpenRefine (https://openrefine.org/) for checking the data quality and GBIF species matching tool (https://www.gbif.org/tools/species-lookup) for the taxonomic checking opensource software.
