Description

The dataset includes 388 records of plant species, 21 releves of biotopes and locations of individual species from the forests of Slovyanoserbsk surrounding areas, situated in the Luhansk region, Ukraine.

Data Records

The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 21 records.

2 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Project Data

The project is aimed on collecting, digitalization and preservation of data on biodiversity records in Ukraine.

Title Preservation of Scientific Heritage of Nature Reserves and National Parks Affected by the War
Identifier 09-12-2024
Funding The project was implemented by the Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group with the support of the Goethe-Institut Ukraine, part of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine

The personnel involved in the project:

Olexiy Vasyliuk

Sampling Methods

We studied the vegetation and flora of forests of the Slovyanoserbsk surrounding areas. Also we noted animal species found within the forest biotopes. Most of the releves are represented by forest plant communities. Some records include points of the individual species of forest and steppe plant communities, carrying out the geobotanical plots. The distribution of the species points was recorded using Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx navigator.

Study Extent The researched forests of Slovyanoserbsk surrounding areas are located in the steppe zone, on the left bank of the Siverskiy Donets River. The area covers the floodplain and the part of the pine terrace adjacent to the floodplain. Groups of floodplain forest near the Siverskyi Donets River, as well as pine forests on a sandy terrace, are described. Forests located near the villages of Nyzhnye, Muratovo, Orikhovo-Donetske and Kryakovka, Shchastynskyi district, Luhansk region.
Quality Control The authors of the dataset are fully responsible for the quality of data provided in it.

Method step description:

  1. Conducting of botanical releves.
  2. Species identification.
  3. Georeferencing.
  4. Organising of the dataset according to the Darwin Core standards.
