Description

The dataset consists of floristic lists and geobotanical descriptions of isolated areas of steppe meadows of northeastern Ukraine on the gradient of the Desna, Seim, Sula, Psel, and Vorskla river valleys. At the time of observation, all of them retained the inherent features of the groups that were once common in the region, but now they are represented by small fragments. The territory near the village of Kalinivka (Konotop district) is promising for conservation. A total of 1259 observations and 272 species are presented in the dataset.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 1,259 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Sampling Methods

Observations were carried out by the route method with the compilation of floristic lists of different details, some difficult-to-diagnose species were collected in the herbarium. The research was carried out at different times of the year, mostly in the second half of the growing season, so short-vegetating early plants were not covered. In some cases, geobotanical descriptions were made.

Study Extent The dataset covers the steppe meadows of northeastern Ukraine within Polissia, spurs of the Central Russian Highlands and the Poltava Plain. The records were made during field work from 2006 to 2024.
Quality Control The author bears full responsibility for the quality of the data provided in the dataset.

Method step description:

  1. Conducting of field expeditions.
  2. Samplings of plants.
  3. Collecting of specimens for herbarium.
  4. Species identification.
  5. Georeferencing.
  6. Creating of the dataset according to Darwin Core standards.
