Description

The landscape reserve of local importance "Velyki Sirohozy ravine" was created (declared) by the decision of the XIX session of the fifth convocation of the Kherson Regional Council of October 04, 2007 №412 "On declaring the landscape reserve of local importance "Velyki Sirohozy ravine" on the territory of the Nyzhnyi Sirohozy district of Kherson region". The purpose of creation (designation) of the protected area: The reserve was created to preserve and restore the biodiversity of this area, where typical steppe and wetland cenoses with diverse species composition have been preserved. Rare species of plants and animals included in the international and national nature protection lists are found on the territory of the reserve The object corresponds to the local importance. On the territory of the reserve, 3 rare species and 6 endemics of plants included in the international and national conservation lists. European Red List - Phlomis scythica, Red Data Book of Ukraine - Caragana scythica, Stipa capillata. The list of the of vascular plants includes 121 species of 35 families. The nomenclature of the vascular plants in dataset follows “Nomenclatural Checklist of vascular plants of Ukraine” (Mosyakin & Fedoronchuk 1999).

Project Data

Sampling Methods

Recording and identification of vascular plants with using road-field methods.

Study Extent Lower Dnipro region
Quality Control The identification of vascular plant species was held with morphological methods at the field and in the Kherson State University Laboratory of Plant Ecology and Environmental Protection. Coordinates of records were checked using Google Earth service. Data cleaning using OpenRefine.

Method step description:

  1. Field sampling.
  2. Recording and identification of vascular plants.
  3. Completing of checklist of vascular plant.
  4. Data post-processing according to the Darwin Core standards.
  5. Data checking and cleaning in OpenRefine.
