Sampling Methods

Studies of the species composition and number of birds, mammals, insects, amphibians and reptiles were conducted on routes (from 1000 m to 30 km) and in the survey of registered areas (from 10 ares to 5000 ha). In the northern part of the region hiking trails are about 100 km. Observations were also carried out while traveling in the region by road (private car, bus) and rail.

Study Extent The surveys covered: - Pridintsivskyj northern districts of Donetsk region; - Regional Landscape Park "Kramatorskyj", Bilokuzminivske section; - The city of Donetsk and the area around the reservoir "Donetsk Sea"; - The valley of the river Kalmius between the village. Granitne (Telmanivskyj administrative district) and the village of Vasylivka (Starobeshivskyj Administrative District); - Priazovskyj district (mainly the outskirts of the village of Sedove, the villages of Bezymyanne, Patriotichne and Novoazovsk of the Novoazovskyj administrative district); - The valley of the Solona river near the village of Novomykolayivka (Pokrovskyj administrative district of Donetsk region) and Vovcha river on the border of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions. This dataset was prepared and published with the help of the Olin gGmbH foundation to preserve data on the biodiversity of Ukraine obtained by the Ukrainian scientists, who were forced to leave their homeland due to the war (Russia's invasion of Ukraine). Olin gGmbH is a funding organization for environmental protection and conservation that supports environmental and sociopolitical organizations.

  2. Species identification and counting.
  3. Georeferencing.
