Description
The dataset includes finds of birds (Aves), mammals (Mammalia), insects (Insecta), amphibians (Amphibia), reptiles (Reptilia) and vascular plants within the Poltava and Sumy administrative regions of Ukraine.
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 202 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Sampling Methods
Studies of the species composition and number of birds, mammals, insects, amphibians and reptiles were conducted on routes (from 1000 m to 30 km) and in the survey of registered areas (from 10 ares to 5000 ha). In the northern part of the region hiking trails are about 100 km. Observations were also carried out while traveling in the region by motor vehicle (private car, bus).
Study Extent | The surveys covered: - The valley of the Vorskla river between the confluence of the Merla river and the village of Krotenky (Poltava region); - Lithuanian Bir (Okhtyrka district of Sumy region); - Trostyanets oak - near Krasnotrostyanets forest research station; - Dibrovni forests in the north of Krasnopil district of Sumy region (west of the village of Osoivka); - Dibrovni massifs from Sumy to the village of Mogrytsia of Sumy region; - Forests and steppe beams to the east of the village of Yunakivka, Sumy district, Sumy region. This dataset was prepared and published with the help of the Olin gGmbH foundation to preserve data on the biodiversity of Ukraine obtained by the Ukrainian scientists, who were forced to leave their homeland due to the war (Russia's invasion of Ukraine). Olin gGmbH is a funding organization for environmental protection and conservation that supports environmental and sociopolitical organizations. |
