Description

The dataset contains information on the registration of 11 species of amphibians and 9 species of reptiles in the Zakarpattia region (Transcarpathia) of Ukraine, mainly in 2024 (supplemented with data collected in 2021-2023). Field studies were conducted both in protected areas (Synevyr, Uzhansky, Zacharovanyi Krai National Nature Parks, Carpathian Biosphere Reserve) and unprotected areas.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 386 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Versions

The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Project Data

The materials were collected and summarized as part of the project "Youth School of Sustainable Development in the Carpathians. Title Youth School of Sustainable Development in the Carpathians. Conservation of vulnerable species during the war
Funding The project is implemented by the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies in cooperation with the Nature And Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU) and with the financial support from the VGP Foundation.
Study Area Description Transcarpathia (Ukraine)

Sampling Methods

Information was collected during field surveys of different types of biotopes (aquatic and terrestrial). Animals were caught by hand or with a net, in some cases species identification was carried out on the basis of visual observations with photo fixation (if possible). After identification animals were returned to nature. Geographic coordinates (decimal format, WGS 84 system) were determined using a portable GPS navigator Garmin eTrex, Google Earth Pro (version 7.3.4) or Google Maps. The nomenclature follows the Catalogue of Life.

Study Extent The materials were collected and summarized as part of the project "Youth School of Sustainable Development in the Carpathians. Conservation of vulnerable species during the war", which is implemented by the Institute of Ecological and Religious Studies in cooperation with the Nature And Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU) and with the financial support from the VGP Foundation.
Quality Control The authors are responsible for the quality and accuracy of data provided within the dataset.

Method step description:

  1. Conducting the field studies.
  2. Manual catching of individuals or taking photos from distance for species identification.
  3. Detection of other indications of the presence of species (audial signal, dead bodies, shed skin etc.).
  4. Species identification.
  5. Georeferencing.
  6. Organizing of the dataset according to Darwin Core standards.
